A range of information and interactive sessions covering cricket, history and culture, led by Steve Stephenson MBE, will be taking place at Wellingborough African Caribbean Association throughout October. St Andrews Black History Month virtual event
St Andrews will be hosting virtual event ‘Where all in this together’, which will commemorate Black History Month and feature an array of inspirational speakers and topics. Each session will be followed by time for questions, enabling attendees to explore each conversation in greater depth, share experiences and learn as a collective. Black History Month UK 2021 'Big Black History Quiz'
Celebrate the launch of Black History Month from the comfort of your home with an online Black History quiz. Test your knowledge on Black British History in four rounds and be in with the chance of winning a prize. The quiz will take place on Friday 1 October, from 7:30pm. Admission is free. Black History Month e-books and e-audio books
Northamptonshire Libraries have created a special collection of Libby e-books and e-audiobooks to celebrate Black History Month. Northampton Museum & Art Gallery
Northampton Museum & Art Gallery have several pieces from a local artist named Rubertine Carmen Allen available in their selling gallery. Rubertine is a graduate of the university of Northampton and focuses on portraiture in various media, including oils, watercolour, pastels, charcoal and digital painting. Rubertine’s work focuses mainly on people of colour as their portraits and figure works are often not widely seen in public places. Find out more at Northampton Museums.
Northamptonshire Community Foundation Black History Month webinar
Northamptonshire Community Foundation will be celebrating some of the Black organisations they have funded over the past 20 years. Hear from local Black community groups and charities and the activities of their organisation, as well as their hopes for the future. The event will take place on Tuesday 12 October, from 2-3pm. Black History Month: Exploring Britain’s Black LGBTQIA+ history
Join a virtual webinar hosted by a panel of speakers exploring personal histories and recollections of Black LGBTQIA+ experiences. Who are the people working to uncover the forgotten stories and what can we learn from them? The webinar will take place on Wednesday 13 October, from 8pm. Book reading and signing
For Black History Month, local author Geraldine Moyo will be holding reading and signing of her book 'My Africa'. This will be in the Children’s Area at Northampton Central Library on Saturday 16 October, at 10:30am.
Knowledge of the Unseen: re-connecting British Black communities with artefacts in museum collections
A talk, workshop and film exploring how African objects from the Northampton Museum & Art Gallery collection can help black British communities to re-connect with their ancestral origins. Black History Month conference
The University of Northampton will be hosting its second annual conference to mark Black History Month: Black in the Ivory 2. The conference has been organised by the University’s Global Ethnic Majority (GEM) network – which is independent of the University – and aims to recognise and celebrate the experience of people of colour. Can You Poet: Black History Speaks
Enjoy an evening of spoken word poetry and pieces around Black history and current issues relating to identity, racism and anti-Blackness worldwide, including colourism and misogynoir. Reginald D Hunter and President Obonjo
Enjoy a night of comedy with President Obonjo, one of the North West’s favourite comics and Reginald D. Hunter. Originally from the Deep South of the USA, Reginald has been in the UK for just under two decades and in that time he has become one of the UK Comedy industry’s best-known performers for his distinctive take on subjects including race and sexuality. The event will take place on Thursday 21 October, from 8pm at the Charles Bradlaugh. Book tickets at Theatres Online.
COBO: Comedy Shutdown Black History Month Special
The Comedy Of Black Origin: Comedy Shutdown tour comes to The Deco, Northampton on Sunday 31 October.
